Essay Topics on Domestic Violence - Advice For College Students

Essay Topics on Domestic Violence - Advice For College StudentsCollege students often ask me about my opinion about essay topics on domestic violence. After discussing this with many people in the profession, it is clear that the issue of violence against women and children is the one that many professionals are facing with a lot of hesitation. The experts I have talked to all concur that there is a general perception among the general public that domestic violence is generally accepted as a social norm and that is why everyone is reluctant to be seen writing about it. Some feel that the story can only be successful if the author's personal experiences and views are brought into the picture. While some even feel that the topic is too personal and in some way makes the person writing outcast. It is true that there is a stigma attached to the violent crimes against women and children. As a matter of fact, many women and children hesitate to talk about the abuse. With the exception of mot hers who have strong will power and do not want to be portrayed as weak or powerless, nobody will dare to open up and let his or her life be displayed.Yet, the professional opinion is that it is no longer safe to ignore the subject. The goal of writing an essay is to reach a target audience. To get them interested, you need to give them some kind of information that they may use in their day-to-day lives. When the media portrays the domestic violence in a negative light, it will affect the normal life of the family. Studies have shown that the subjects being written about in the media can develop negative attitudes towards domestic violence, therefore, educating and informing the audience about the realities of the problem can bring about positive changes. This negative stereotype in the society has created fear in the hearts of the women and children. This fear can be reduced by providing them with factual information about the situation. They can also realize that they are not the o nly ones suffering and that it is better to speak up against the abusers than to live in fear. Most of the college students I talk to have reservations about essay topics on domestic violence because they fear that they might be the next victim of the abuse. The subject is too sensitive and has to be handled very delicately to avoid the wrong impression being painted about the writer. The experts say that the situation is severe and there are other methods that can be adopted to educate the public about the danger of domestic violence and the necessity of punishment for violent crime. In fact, the focus of the law must now be on the prevention of violent crimes and punishing the offenders. It is very difficult to handle the subject in such a delicate manner because of the emotional impact on the subjects.
